South East Football Forum declares loyalty to NFF

The Forum of South East Football Association has risen in strong support of the Aminu Maigari-led board of the Nigeria Football Federation and reaffirmed its commitment to the NFF statutes of 2010 and loyalty to the NFF .

In an eleven point communique issued at the end of its bi-monthly meeting in Enugu, Monday the forum condemned calls for an emergency congress of the NFF, wondering how constituent members of the NFF could be invited to its congress through the media.

“It is out of place to invite us to NFF congress of which we are members through the media as we do not know of any emergency to warrant due NFF statutes process not being followed to this effect,” the forum queried.

The forum argued that it was only the NFF Congress that could compel the executive committee or the President of the federation to convene a congress “if need be.”

They appealed to the South-East Governors to come to their aid financially and put in place football infrastructure “to let us keep pace with the transformation agenda of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
