Siasia plays down Argentina re-match

BY Fidelis Ebu
ABUJA — Samson Siasia, the Super Eagles Chief Coach yesterday down-played the return leg international friendly game with Argentina saying his focus was on the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar in Antananarivo on September 3.

The Eagles handler said he was expecting proper preparation to ensure outright win in Antananarivo.
While expecting the Nigeria Football Federation to encourage early preparation for the team, Siasia said he  was considering the option of citing his camp in Mauritius from where the team would fly direct to Antananarivo for the September 3 qualifier.

”The most important thing to me now is the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar. Theissue of return leg against Argentina is secondary”, Siasia said yesterday.

He however expressed that picking the three points in Antananarivo was more important in his scheme of things, at least for now.

The Eagles handler said the camping in Mauritius if approved, would be a combination of identified home-based and foreign-based legions.

He noted late departure to Addis Ababa for the return leg against Ethiopia as a set back to the Eagles; a development he said would be avoided in the team’s subsequent games.
