Seun Kuti the youngest son of the late Afro beat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti has finally released his much anticipated album; From Africa with Fury: Rise.
While addressing entertainment journalists in Ikoyi, the very happy Sean who is a complete look alike of his father said his album had a message of emancipation for the African people.
Said he “ It is important for people to realise that Afro beat music cannot be compromised or changed. Afro beat cannot now start talking about money or love. It is not selfish. It is not a music that you come and start to talk about your self, car, nice car and girls. Afro beat is about the emancipation of the people.”
Seun who is a song writer, saxophonist and a very electrifying performer revealed that he had been able to work the tracts into a six minutes on average song; contrary to his father’s style which lasted much longer to suit with the current trends in length of music tracks.
He said “The album came on a whole new younger, fresher approach. I really put a lot into it to make sure it wasn’t like not like the previous album. In the sound, music and composing, I wanted to show that my maturity and development as a musician comes across in this album. This was an important factor for me when I was writing the songs for this album.”
Seun revealed that there had been no vocally featured artiste in the album but said “I had John Adams a very well known rock guitarists who played on a few tracks with me. I think I had the greatest colobo of all since I had Brian Eno who produced the album for me but In terms of shows, my brother and I will be playing together in Denmark in July.”
On the Album’s are African soldier, You can run, good leaf, rise, slave masters, for them eye and Mr big thief.
