Probe Katsina food poisoning – NUT

Katsina -The Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Katsina State chapter has called on the government to investigate the case of food poisoning, which led to the death of some of its members in the state.

The call was contained in a communiqué signed by the State NUT Secretary, Aminu Asama’i and issued at the end of an emergency meeting of the union on Friday in Katsina.

The call, the communiqué said, was to reiterate the earlier appeal made by the national body of the union.

It urged the state government to immediately set up a committee to investigate the case of food poisoning that killed some teachers in the state recently at a government-sponsored workshop.

The communiqué expressed dismay over the “unfortunate incident” and commiserated with the families of the deceased.

It also prayed God to grant the hospitalised victims speedy recovery.

NAN recalls that 10 secondary school teachers were reported dead and several others hospitalised as a result of food poisoning at a workshop organised by the State Ministry of Education, last week in Katsina. (NAN)
