Freddie Ladapo can’t wait to meet up with his countrymen after being invited to join a provisional Nigeria squad for the Under-20s World Cup.
The Colchester striker was named in the squad for the two-day camp at Bisham Abbey this week as the Nigerians start preparations for the tournament in Colombia during July and
August.
Colchester manager Tony Humes says Ladapo was over the moon when he heard news of his call-up, telling the club’s official website: “It’s a great opportunity for Freddie and, having spoken to him, I know he is looking for ward to it.
“Hopefully he will enjoy it and perform well enough to be selected for the World Cup squad.
Even if he’s not selected for the final squad, it’s a good opportunity for him to be involved in an international get together and add to his football education.”
