Group urges PHCN workers to support Jonathan’s power reform

BY FESTUS AHON
UGHELLI—Initiative for Better Power Supply, IBPS, has called on workers of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, to support the power reform of President Goodluck Jonathan.

IBPS in a statement, Monday, in Delta State,  by its national coordinator, Don Emmanuel Onose, noted that President Jonathan has good agenda for the power sector.

He said that President Jonathan should be allowed to appoint a minister of his choice to head the power ministry, adding that Nigerians were anxious to see an improved power sector.

Onose warned the workers against strike action, adding that “strike at this time will bring about hatred and bad image to them as workers of the PHCN.”

Noting that his group was neither in support nor against the appointment of Prof Bath Nnaji as the Power Ministry, he said the group would support whoever was appointed, so far the person will save Nigerians from protracted epileptic power supply.

He urged the workers to take a more legitimate action, should they have anything against Prof Nnaji, rather than threaten to go on strike if he (Nnaji) was appointed the Power Ministry.
