Chairman of the technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, Barrister Chris Green has called on Nigerians to hold the National Sports Commission and the Ministry of Sports responsible for the lingering crisis in Nigerian football.
Green who spoke at the Teslim Balogun stadium Lagos at the weekend said the NSC’s romance with the so-called NFA led by Jarret Tenebe smacks of double standard and policy somersault. “In one breath they tell you the group is illegal and in another breath they are holding meetings with them,” a visibly angry Green said, asking, “how does that work?”
“No sane person would say NFF is illegal. Just a fortnight ago at the FIFA elections Nigeria was represented by NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari and Musa Amadu, the secretary. Where was the so-called NFA?”
He warned that the world football governing body, FIFA was watching developments in Nigeria football. Green urged all Nigerians to condemn what those he termed as “detractors of the Aminu Maigari-led board” were doing to Nigerian football. “Should FIFA ban Nigeria, you know who to hold responsible,” Green warned.
The NFF technical Committee boss said that it was evident that some people were benefiting from brewing and fueling crisis in Nigeria football. “Yes, some people are eating fat from the crisis they create.”
