WARRI—Some suspected kidnappers, yesterday, took to their heels, when the Anti-Kidnapping Task Force of the Delta Waterways Security Committee, DWSC, in Warri, Delta State, stormed their hideout at Samagidi in Eku community to rescue the Country Manager of Saybolt Limited, a subsidiary of Corelab, Port-Harcourt, Mr. James Onosia Obriki, who was abducted on Airport Road, Warri, last Friday, by gunmen.
Obriki was driving in his SUV, when he was ambushed by the kidnappers and whisked to their hideout.
Acting on a tip-off, the anti-kidnapping team, comprising policemen and DWSC members, trailed the kidnappers to their hideout, after rounding up some family members of the kidnappers, who gave useful information on the activities of the abductors.
The kidnappers, ran away, leaving their victim behind on sighting the security operatives.
He was consequently rescued by the task force without his family or employers paying ransom to the kidnappers.
Chairman of the task force, Chief Boro Pudu, who spoke to Vanguard, yesterday, said the committee in conjunction with the Police Area Command, Warri, the Anti-Terrorism Squad, ATS, Joint Task Force, JTF, on the Niger-Delta will not relent on its efforts until kidnappers, who infiltrated the state from other places were brought to book.
He called on members of the public to give useful information to the committee, police and other security agents concerning the activities of criminals in their domain.
