9 Nigerian Chaplains commissioned, decorated

THE Nigerian Chaplain Corps recently commissioned and decorated nine officials into the priesthood office.
The co-ordinator of the CO2, Okota, Lagos, Chaplain Brig-adier-General Onyebuchi Obasi while commissioning the officers, stated that they are being empowered to carry out service to humanity without hindrance.

According to him, the purpo-se of the commissioning as a member of the Nigerian Chap-lain is not to intimidate the society with the position, but to help humanity and preach the gospel to everywhere without hindrance, stressing that the newly commissioned officers should live to expectation.

Those commissioned into the rank of major include: Adesulu Dayo, Adebayo Victor, Akinsan-ya Olufunmilayo, Akomolafe Adebayo, Agunloye Charles, Agunloye Stella, Ogundipe Idowu, Bello Samuel and George Bello.

The brigadier frowned at uniformed people who often  capitalise on their offices or ranks to violate traffic regula-tions or use men of underworld as cover to bring in contraband goods. He therefore warned them against such practices, saying “on no account should a Chaplain be found guilty of lawlessness as such attitude does not befit a priest of God.”

Obasi noted that Chaplains are supposed to be pace-setters in the society, showing to the public the best way to behave and serve God. He pointed out that his men are well trained to face the challenges of the society and correct the ills in the society, maintaining that Chaplains are called to render selfless service to humanity.
