Robbers lay siege to Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

By Albert Akpor

LAGOS—MOTORISTS plying the Lagos-Ibadan expressway are presently going through tough times as robbers have laid siege to the expressway, robbing and maiming motorists and passengers, unchallenged.

Last Thursday, about 15 robbers, clad in military fatigue, robbed motorists unchallenged.

A notable politician, said to have taken part in the just concluded House of Representatives election, (names withheld), was among the victims. He was said to have been stripped to his panties and robbed of all his valuables. Sources said he was slapped several times when the robbers realised whom he was.

No fewer than eight robbery incidents had been recorded with an unspecified number of persons injured, this month alone.

According to sources, the robbers usually operate few metres away from the Lagos Shagamu under bridge, before the office of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC,  and the old Ogun State toll gate.
