IBADAN – NURSES in Oyo State yesterday threatened to down tools from today over alleged demotion of some of them and outright cancellation of some their allowances without making recourse to them.
The nurses said they would not attend to night duties and other emergencies until the authorities heed to their demands.
Alhaji Teslim Olawuwo who is the chairman of the association, alleged that the hospitals management removed the teaching allowance without seeking their consent.
They maintained that the managements erred by reneging on the earlier agreement they reached with the State Government since last year.
He said, “the hospitals management board without due consultation with us removed the teaching allowance. We went to our banks only to discover that the money was short of the teaching allowance.”
