The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) has hailed the marketing communications material deployed by various political campaign candidates during the just ended general elections in the country.
The institute which praised the materials churned out by the campaigners said, Nigerians with the campaign materials deployed saw what the social media can do with information dissemination and information sharing.
Chief. Lugard Aimiuwu, president, NIMN, while speaking on the state of the nation observed that this is the first time electioneering campaign would explore the depth of the social communication machinery, while hailing the idea behind the employment of such communication by the various candidates during the campaign period.
Speaking, Aimiuwu Aimiuwu said that choice was the greatest expression of freedom. “It reduces complacency, promoting efficiency. Imagine a world without choices accountability, voting takes place every minute in the market place. The poor performing product is punished instantly, as the customer expresses her displeasure by switching to competition, or rewards performance by patronage, free vote is the ultimate check on irresponsibility, immunity markets are intolerant of immunity, the breeding ground of impunity. You are priced according to your value.
Competition – is not a ‘do-or-die’ affair, no matter how fierce it may. Competition should be between your offerings, the underlying strategies vis-a-vis competition’s. No acrimony, although nothing was compromised. You do not ‘lynch’ competition; you either beat them to higher market share, or plan better next time.”
