Bola Abimbola returns

By Charles Mgbolu

Bola

In the late 80s and early 90s he was one of the most sought after musicians especially in the juju music circle where he held sway.

But when the fortune of most juju musicians dwindled following the domination of the fuji music, Bola Abimbola left the country in search of the provable golden fleece.

Today he is back to continue from where he obviously stopped but this time he has embraced gospel. And his new album is titled Free. Abimbola told Showtime the album is a twelve tracked collection of contemporary multi cultural praise gospel songs.

Bola, singer, song writer and music producer began his career as a recording artist with E.M.I record label in the mid 1980’s. He did fuju pop style way back in1987. Then did an adaption of Michael Jackson’s Don’t stop till you’re getting off in the native Yoruba dialect and released in Britain as a single. He had then left singing for years to go into music production but says that was never his true calling. Bola’s new album Free is coming under the stables of Faith city records; a new Christian record label company that he had just formed.

Evidently, he is no rookie to seeing to the business side of things as he quickly reassured Showtime he is already signed into major market deal.

Said he “I already have music marketers and promoters in the country that are working closely with me”
