In an interview with Super Sport, Coach Obuh said that Sani Ibrahim who contributed prominently to Nigeria’s silver medal at the U-17 competition in Nigeria was absent because he had club commitments.
Said he, “he is currently in Italy where he is looking for a contract with SS Lazio. We extended invitation to him but he had some issues to take care of at his club.”
Continuing, the coach allayed fears that the defence line without the likes of Fortune Chkwudi and his former partner at the U-17 level Kenneth Omeruo was the weak link of the team.
On that he said, “I don’t think the team is weak. I am sure they will do Nigeria proud in South Africa. I have confidence in the other players in the team.”
