Police recover snatched ballot boxes in Epe

Epe – The Divisional Police Officer for Epe, Lagos State, Mr Cyril David, on Tuesday confirmed that the two ballot boxes snatched by unknown men in the area had been recovered.

He said  Epe that two suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident.

David said the ballot papers in the boxes were counted after the recovery of the boxes to ensure that the votes already cast were intact.

He said police had begun investigations into the incident.

The ballot boxes were snatched at Ward 5A on Hospital Road, Epe.

Policemen and INEC officials, however, chased the hoodlums and recovered the boxes 20 minutes later.

Meanwhile, counting of votes commenced in Epe at about 4.00 p.m. and security beefed up around collation centres. (NAN)
