Oghara Poly admits 3400, refuses 19,000

Delta State Polythenic, Otefe Oghara yesterday held its 2010/2011 matrication ceremony where the institution admitted 3400 students and denied 19,000 students admission into the institution.

The school Rector, Professor Temi Akporhono who led a team of academic and non-academic staff to conduct the matriculation at the school auditorium said the 3400 students who matriculated out of over 21,000 students who applied, where not the only ones that qualified and passed the school’s admission requirement but where the ones within the capacity of present facility of the institution.

The Rector said although the institution was a young one, there is the urgent need of the state government to expand the institution facility and complete ongoing projects in the school to give the school better leverage to increase its subsequent admission number as educating a wide spectrum of the youths is a formidation step to curbing youths restiveness and crime across the geography of the state and Nigeria in general.

Professor Akporhono, while reading his riot act, cautioned the newly admitted students to behave well throughout their study time as students with unruly and criminal tendencies as well as anyone found to be involved in cultism will be shown his/her way out of the school without mercy.
