LAGOS – NIGERIA Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF, and Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, NECA, yesterday, agreed to work out modalities that would ensure a successful take-off, implementation and administration of the Employees’ Compensation Act, ECA, scheme, recently signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Speaking at a one-day interactive session between NSITF and NECA, Acting Managing Director of NSITF, Alhaji Umar Abubakar, said the fund was set to draw from past experiences of a related scheme to manage the funds to the benefit of employers and employees.
Director-General of NECA, Segun Osinowo, who chaired the session, in his remarks, emphasised on deferring the commencement of contributions to the scheme by employers to July, insisting on the need for employers to be fully sensitised and acquainted with the provisions of the new Act.
