IN – THE leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State has accepted the results of last weekend’s National Assembly elections. It has, meanwhile, urged the people of the state to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan in the presidential election this Saturday.
In a statement by the state chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, the party noted that even though it was investigating what it described as “misgivings over some areas across the state” during the elections, the results of the elections were true reflection of the wishes of the people of the state.
The party won the National Assembly elections in Edo Central but lost Edo North and Edo South to the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN. Senator Ehigie Uzamere of the ACN picked the Edo South senatorial seat after defeating Senator Daisy Danjuma of the PDP. Before now, no Senator from this area had won a re-election to the Senate, but Uzamere broke the jinx.
In Edo North, Deacon Domingo Obende of the ACN defeated PDP’s Yisa Braimoh while Senator Odion Ugbesia of the PDP defeated Herbettar Okonofua of the ACN.
