NOTWITHSTANDING the acrimony that greeted the conduct of  last Saturday’s National Assembly polls in Bayelsa State arising from widespread irregularities as alleged by the opposition parties, Bayelsans are expected to put aside their differences this weekend to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan whom they revere as the best thing to have happened to their dear state.

While the position parties are seething with anger over the alleged complicity of INEC in making mockery of Mr. President’s one-man-one vote mantra, members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party have described the exercise as the most peaceful poll in the annals of the country.

Though there were reported cases of hijack of electoral materials and alleged manipulation of the exercise in favour of the PDP candidates, Bayelsans in their thousands irrespective of party affiliation are expected to come out en masse to vote for the President on Saturday.

According to many, President Jonathan has lived up to his promise to conduct free and credible poll as expressed in the many surprises taking place across the country and as such would want him to continue in office.

A victory for President Jonathan they believe, is a victory not just for the state and the region but the entire country given his patriotic zeal to right the wrongs of the past.

To this end, many who did not come out to vote in the last poll are believed to be inclined towards voting for President Jonathan whose giant campaign posters adorn all the nooks and crannies of the state.
