ABUJA – LEADER of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Sen. Bola Tinubu, was at the headquarters of the State Security Service, SSS, in Abuja, yesterday.
It was not exactly clear what took Senator Tinubu to the headquarters of the intelligence agency, but Vanguard learnt that his visit might not be unconnected with the war of words between him and President Goodluck Jonathan who was quoted as saying that the South West could not left in the hands of “rascals.”
President Jonathan who spoke at the South West Zonal Presidential Campaign in Ibadan had told his party supporters that the ruling party must work hard towards victory over other parties in the zone.
The “rascal” comment drew the ire the ACN leadership with Sen. Tinubu reportedly making uncomplimentary comments about the President and the ruling party.
It was learnt that the personal attacks on Mr President were viewed seriously at the intelligence circle which prompted the invitation of the CAN chieftain to the SSS headquarters for “a chat.”
It was learnt that the SSS leadership told the politician to guide his utterances, especially on the person of Mr. President in order to avoid any situation that could unsettle the current political climate or any security breach occasioned by such utterances.
Sources said Sen. Tinubu who entered the SSS premises at 3.14 left after an hour, at about 4.16 pm.
When contacted, the SSS spokesperson, Mrs. Marilyn Ogar, said she was neither aware of any invitation to Sen. Tinubu, nor his visit.
