PORT HARCOURT- TEACHERS of Baptist Medical Centre, Eku in Delta State have appealed to the state government to go ahead with its decision to take over the school.
It will be recalled that the state government took over the Eku Baptist Hospital in 2009. Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, after the takeover, directed that the staff of the hospital be transferred to the state civil service.
The teachers were subsequently issued letters of absorption by the state Hospital Management Board in line with the government directive.
There was, however, a twist in the development, when some persons allegedly called on the state government not to take over the primary and secondary schools and that they should be run by the community.
When contacted, yesterday, the president general Eku Progress Union, an umbrella body of the community, Chief Blessing Ohvwavborua enjoined the state government to disregard those urging it to leave the school for the community.
