I’m still in PDP, says Fadairo, Ogun PDP factional chairman

*As Isiaka explains group’s departure from PDP

CHAIRMAN of the Governor Gbenga Daniel faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun State, Chief Joju Fadairo, yesterday dumped his followers who had defected to the Peoples Party of Nigeria, PPN, saying he would remain a loyal member of the PDP.

Chief Fadairo spoke just as the factional governorship candidate who  defected to the PPN to pick its ticket, Mr. Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka, declared that it was the injustice done to the group after winning the party primaries left them no other option than to seek an alternative platform.

Addressing newsmen, Chief Fadairo whose faction lost in the bid to present candidates for the forthcoming elections prompting their mass defection into PPN, said as a founding member of the party, he would never dump the party for another.

Fadairo who was accompanied by the former Chairman of Ifo Local Government; Alhaji Sikirulai Ogundele said “I must confess that the imbroglio that has engulfed the PDP in Ogun State since 2006 or thereabout has done more harm than good to all of us, individually or/and collectively. I want to say unequivocally here that, “I Olajoju Fadairo remains a loyal and committed member of the PDP in Ogun State, the South West and indeed in Nigeria.

“I should be seen as an elder of the party who should be working towards peace and unity of the party at all times. More so, that I am a founding father of the party. I therefore, see no reason why I should move out of a mansion I co-built.

“I want to make a passionate plea to all members of the PDP to recognize that the sacred responsibility as members regardless of factions, is to protect, defend and uphold the constitution of the party and I want to plead with them to please, give peace a chance so that together, we can once again, secure electoral victory for our great party in this state.”

Also addressing newsmen yesterday, the PPN governorship candidate; Mr. Gboyega Isiaka in explaining the group’s departure from PDP said “we have taken this decision because it is clear to us that those who seek to subvert justice in the electoral process in Ogun State PDP will stop at nothing to thwart the people’s will.”

“The Peoples Party of Nigeria is a moving hurricane that will sweep Ogun State clean of all forms of political pollution by pretenders to the mandate of the people. It is a commitment to good governance. The change to another party is an eloquent testimony of our resilience in the face of oppression, intimidation, naked misuse of power and arbitrariness.”

Isiaka who was accompanied by his Deputy; Mrs. Joko Odebunmi and other candidates of the PPN lamented that what the leadership of the party did was a grave injustice which was challenged in court but regrettably yet to receive justice.
