MAIDUGURI – THE gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and former governor of Borno State, Alhaji Mohammed Goni, has called on the people of the state to vote the PDP into office if the desired change is to be achieved.
The PDP candidate made the call during his campaign tour of Southern Borno. He visited among others, Damboa, Kwaya-Kusar, Shani, Hawul and Bayo Local Government Areas of the state.
He said his record from 1979 to 1983 when he was governor of old Bornu state, speaks for itself.
Alhaji Goni noted that if voted into power, he would replicate his record in all sectors of the economy, stressing that PDP government was out to give purposeful leadership to the people of the state.
The campaign team was received by a mammoth crowed at the outskirts of Damboa before moving to the venue of the rally.
Various speakers at the campaign rally eulogised Alhaji Goni and all PDP candidates.
They spoke on the need for ideological political stance, saying the candidate represents the much needed change the people were clamouring for.
Heads of Fulani and Shuwa Arabs resident in Damboa, Ardo Kaffale and his followers numbering about thirty – thousand pledged their votes to the PDP during all elections after a symbolic presentation of Kola nut to seal the agreement as custom demands.
The campaign team also visited Kaffa, Talala and Ajigin where Alhaji Mohammed Goni and his running mate, Ambassador Saidu Pindar told the people that the type of government to be enthroned in Borno State depends on them but advised that it is only the PDP that will carry out the desired change through effective transformation.
While in Kwaya – Kusar the campaign team visited kwaya, kurba gayi and wandali where they received some defectors into the PDP and promised to give them equal opportunity in the party.
In Bayo local government area, the Director General of the Goni Campaign Organization, Barr. Mohammed Umara Kumalia said his party had fielded candidates that would deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Borno and urged the people to vote for PDP in all elections.
In his address at the occasion the Southern Borno Senatorial Candidate, Hon. Mohammed Ali Ndume cautioned the people against selling their voters cards but to ensure that they come out en_masse and vote for the PDP protect their votes and make sure it is counted.
In all the places visited, Alhaji Mohammed Goni’s campaign message was, “Change for betterment of all under a tested and trusted leadership.
