ALP woos Lagos voters

By DAPO AKINREFON
LAGOS – THE National Chairman of the African Liberation Party, ALP, Chief Emmanuel Okereke, yestersday, enjoined people of Lagos State to vote for the party, saying that it remained a better alternative to the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the state.

Also, governorship candidate of ALP, in the state, Chief Tunde Fanimokun, faulted the slow pace of development in Lagos.

Chief Okereke, who explained the need for the electorate to vote for its governorship candidate in the state, Chief Fanimokun and his running mate, Mrs. Omolora Alakija in the forthcoming general election, said they would liberate Lagosians from the present bondage.

He spoke at the unveiling of the ALP’s candidates in the state for the April polls, held at Sheraton Hotels, Ikeja, Lagos.

In his remarks, the governorship candidate described the political gathering as revolutionary noting that with ALP government coming on board on May 29, 2011, the suffering of the people resident in Lagos will end.

While reeling out his programmes, Fanimokun said Lagos state is built around 13 fundamental principles and 12 pillars which he said would bring about enduring developments in the state.

He promised that his government, among other things, would pay special attention to welfare of all workers, transparency in governance, food security, private sector development.

Besides, he said the education, agriculture, health sectors will receive attention under his administration.
According to him, his administration will restore the dignity of the teaching profession and take good care of doctors who he regretted have treated badly by the present administration in Lagos State.

The governorship candidate who acknowledged that the Fashola_led government has made some appreciable progress in the state, however, insisted that what is on ground is not commensurate with all the money the state had received since 1999.

He argued that the would have had more growth and developments if the money received by the state government was appropriately deployed to numerous projects which are begging for attention.

His words: “We want to remove the 13 sins of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Lagos state and we will be guided by 13 fundamental principles. The welfare of our people is the sole purpose of  our government. For now, we want to admit that there have been some notable achievements by the Fashola administration but the pace has been slow. We are coming to speed up the pace of development in Lagos state.”
