ACN alleges plot to arrest Tinubu…fingers PDP as being mastermind

BY KOLADE LAREWAJU

ABEOKUTA -THEAction Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Ogun State, has alleged a plot to incapacitate the leader of the party and former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, before the April polls describing it as part of the desperate attempt of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, to stop the ACN from retrieving Ogun and Oyo states from PDP marauders.

The party said the scheme, which had already begun with the reported withdrawal last week of the security aides of Tinubu, was not only crude but also anti-people and would meet with stiff resistance.

The party in a statement by its Publicity Secretary in Ogun State, Mr. Sola Lawal, said the planned arrest and detention of Tinubu “is a game plan by PDP which is jolted by the wind of change in the South-West to ensure that Ogun and Oyo, do not slip out of its vicious grip as was the case in Ondo, Ekiti and Osun states.

“The PDP, in furtherance of its tactics of achieving its evil plots to hijack the people’s mandate, once again, has perfected plans to arrest and detain our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose political sagacity has overwhelmed its leadership. This latest plan is a desperate and malicious attempt to stop the impending victory of our party in Ogun and Oyo states.

“The ACN in Ogun State is personally concerned about the on-going persecution of Tinubu owing principally to the fact that if any state in the South-West needs the Tinubu magic, it is our much misruled state where the devilish advocate of do-or-die politics hails”.

The party recalled that it was the incumbent administration of Ogun State that first issued a “fatwa” on Tinubu following the burial of late Otunba Dipo Dina, the party’s gubernatorial candidate in 2007 polls who was murdered by yet-to-be apprehended assassins. It recalled that it was on that occasion “that the lawless bunch of rascals in Ogun government banned Tinubu from setting foot on Ogun soil.

“We call on President Goodluck Jonathan to avert an imminent chaos which may follow any onslaught against our leader or any candidate of our party in the forthcoming elections as we are ready to defend whatever gains we have made in the South-West in particular and the country generally. Any attack on Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be tantamount to an offensive against the good people of the South-West and the ACN nationwide and the consequence of this may be disastrous”, the party added.
