Uduaghan, others win BH People of the Year award

For  his decision to pursue peace and security in Delta State and his outstanding achievements in the holistic development of the state, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan is Business Hallmark’s 2010 Governor of the Year.

The concept of governor of the year is to showcase a unique individual who has affected his society in creative and productive ways more than anyone else in the preceding year.

Publisher of Business Hallmark, Prince Emeka Obasi, in a statement  in Lagos, said Uduaghan was selected from the pool of governors because “he is improving the lives of the people of the state.

“The crucial role he has played in the development of Delta State, particularly  his  free maternal health service, free health service for the under- five children, scholarship scheme for secondary school students, micro-credit scheme that has affected the lives of many people at the grassroots,  youth empowerment scheme, especially in the area of agriculture for many of the youths etc. have set him apart as a leader of vision,” Obasi stated.

The newspaper also picked the Group Managing Director of Unity Bank Plc, Alhaji Falalu Bello, as the ‘Corporate Personality of the Year’  for his vision and the success in husbanding the bank through the arduous  challenges of recapitalisation to its position today  as one of Nigeria’s most stable banks.

His choice, according to Obasi,  was  informed by his sound management of the bank’s assets and resources, generation of worthy returns to its stakeholders and  the formation of a successful and distinct national retail banking model with one of the fastest decision making processes in the industry today coupled with his crucial role in the development of the bank, particularly    steering its affairs so ably thus far.

Managing Director, Diamond Banl Plc, Mr. Emeka Onwuka is to share the Corporate Personality Award with Alhaji Fallalu.
