Techno Oil undertkes strategic business review

Indigenous oil firm, Techno Oil Limited has concluded a two-day Strategic Business Review aimed at re-positioning the company to sustain its pioneering role in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

The business review, which theme was: “our brand, our service, our success”, was attended by heads of the different business units, representing the fuel depot, blending plants, LPG Plants and also regional heads of the six geographical branch offices/warehouses in Nigeria.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Techno Oil, Mrs. Nkechi Obi, said the review is taken place early in the year to enable management monitor progress thereafter, and ensure that the objectives are on track while also keeping staff abreast of emerging trends in the oil and gas sector.

She said that issues in the economy, especially those relating to oil and gas such as the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, deregulation policy, local content initiative and a host of other issues, called for cooperation and understanding by operators in the energy sector.

Obi said that the trail-blazing activities of Techno Oil over the past decade placed a burden on the company to continuously blaze the trail for other operators, particularly in the downstream sub-sector, which is increasingly becoming more challenging as developments unfold.

Against this backdrop, she said the company also invited external experts to help the company chat a way forward, while also maximizing resources and opportunities.

The Techno Oil boss argued that the annual business review as necessary in view of the company’s core values and business aspiration to have a global impact.

“We need to sustain our core values and ensure that we carry our esteemed customers along in knowing what we ought to know and doing what we need to do as a first-class company,’’ she stated.

She listed the objectives of the retreat to include appraising Techno Oil’s capabilities with a view to identifying areas for appropriate intervention, identifying contemporary issues and opportunities in the downstream sector, devising appropriate strategies that would enable the company break new grounds and make sustainable impact in the sector.

“We are presently doing a lot of local and offshore training activities for our staff in the areas of safety, leadership, marketing and technical knowledge,” she added.

Also speaking, the Deputy Managing Director of the company, Mr. Tony Onyeama, said the forum was also an opportunity for the company to review the passing year with a view to bracing up for the future challenges.

He described the passing year as “quite eventful for Techno Oil considering the ground-breaking projects we embarked upon, ranging from massive expansion in our storage capacity, jetty construction, investment in retail outlets, community development projects to musical concerts, all aimed at giving back to the society that has accepted our products.”

Onyeama lauded the staff for their loyal and dedication in lifting the firm to greater heights, adding that Techno Oil’s greatest asset was its workforce, whom he said, made the company to perform beyond set targets.

He said the company was well positioned for the challenges ahead, and reiterated management’s determination to continue to provide a level playing field for workers to excel.

Techno Oil opened shop 13 years ago and manufactures Techno Oil range of lubricants. The company has a multi-million naira tank farm in Apapa, Lagos, with retail outlets nationwide.
