SUSPECTED ritualists, yesterday, killed a 42-year-old taxi driver and father of two, removing his vital organs on the busy Refinery Road, Effurun, near Warri, Delta State.
The man was identified as James Ocheja, an Igara by tribe and said to be residing at Ekurode Urhobo area of Warri with his wife and children before he met his untimely death.
He was said to have been contracted on charter by some unknown persons Sunday evening and never returned home.
Police authorities at the Ekpan Police Division told Vanguard that they discovered the remains of late James inside his taxi out of curiosity, explaining that while on night patrol along the Refinery Road, they saw the car by the road side with its headlights fully on.
Continuing, the police source said on their way back late in the night, they still discovered the car parked at the same spot with lights still on and decided to check it out, only to discover the corpse of the late James inside the car with all the vital organs removed.
A search on him through the vehicle particulars was what led to his identification and subsequent notification of family members. “His GSM phone must have been taken away by the murderers to avoid being traced,” the source added.
The corpse of the late James was deposited at the Warri Central Hospital morgue by policemen from the Ekpan police station.
The Divisional Police Officer, DPO, “A” Division Warri, a Chief Superintendent of Police, Okon Effiong confirmed the incident, saying that police from Ekpan Division brought the corpse in company of relations of the decease.
