IBADAN — THE crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  in Ogun State almost truncated the planned rally of President Goodluck Jonathan which is fixed for today as the state radio continued making announcement that the rally had been postponed.

Also, another text message was sent to most of the stakeholders of the party that the rally had been postponed immediately.
Governor Gbenga Daniel is the South-West coordi-nator of the campaign for Goodluck/Sambo for 2011.

But, dismissing the announcement and the text message, the National Vice Chairman of the party in South West, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo, said it was far from the truth.

He told newsmen yesterday that the said messages never emanated from the zonal leadership of the PDP.

He said, “our attention has been drawn to a text message being circulated that the flag-off campaign of Mr. President and the presidential candidate of our great party, President Goodluck Jonathan has been postponed. We wish to assure and re-assure the public and our teeming party members that the rally will go on as scheduled.”

Alhaji Oladipo called on all the state chairmen and party leaders to disregard all contrary instructions to this effect adding that all the various committees set up for this purpose were working and would organize one of the best rallies ever in the country.

On the raging crisis in Ogun State, the zonal PDP chieftain said the party was not bothered about which of the candidates of the two factions were recognized by INEC. He explained that the concern of the party was for its candidate to be fielded in the state.

He stressed that people should not be too pre-occupied with the chaotic atmosphere as all things would soon be resolved amicably.

“We will handle it politically. Nobody would lose at the end of the day. Leaders and stakeholders of the party have been invited and they would be here. The struggle to hold power has always been like that and PDP knows how to solve its problems when the chips are down”, he assured.
