Protest trails INEC candidates’ list

Protest has continued to trail the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) candidates’ list since the commission released the names of candidates.

The protest which came from Kogi State yesterday alleged that Honourable Hassan Yakubu who was retuned as Kogi East Senatorial District was replaced by Honourable Aidoko Ali Usman on the same seat.

The protest letter signed by A.A. Ibrahim Esq reiterated that after Yakubu was affirmed and retuned, he was given Form EC4B (iv) and Form CF0001 respectively, for which he duly filled, completed and retuned the forms accordingly.

“Our attention has been drawn to the publications of names released by INEC wherein the name of our client, Honourable Hassan Yakubu who was duly nominated at the primaries monitored by INEC is now replaced with that of Honourable Aidoko Ali Usman as candidate for the All Nigeria Peoples Party for the Kogi East Senatorial District”.

Yakubu who according to the protest expressed his interest to contest in December last year, 2010 as ANPP candidate for the state East Senatorial District was stunned to see that his names had been replaced with Ali Usman by INEC.

Our client paid for the Nomination forms and Express of Interest Forms accordingly and was duly screened at the party’s National Headquarters on 10/1/2011”.

It continued, “On the 11/1/2011, the party primaries were held wherein our client was affirmed and returned as the candidate of All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) for the position of Kogi East Senatorial Zone in the presence of INEC officials”.
