AKURE — GOVERNOR Olusegun Mimiko will  commissioned various life-changing projects across the state to mark two years in office, this weekend. Dr Mimiko was inaugurated on 24th February, 2009.

Addressing newsmen yesterday, the Chairman of the second anniversary planning committee, Mr. Akin Adaramola, who reeled out the achievements of the government in the past two years, linked the anniversary to the swift eradication of the hitherto disconnect between the people and the previous administration.

Projects to be commissioned across the state include a 33-year-old swimming pool at the state sports complex, Akure,  Caring Heart Housing Estate, Oba Ile, Gani Fawehinmi diagnostic centre, Ondo, auto mart, Akure, floating jetty, Igbokoda, agriculture village, Ore, multi-millionaire regional market, Ikare Akoko, health centres, accelerated rural water supply scheme, Alpha 3D company, Ikare Akoko, school buildings.

Others are flag-off of the public service institute Mokin, Okitipupa ultra-modern central market, as well as the temporary site of the Ondo State University of Science and Technology, OSUSTECH, which will also have its maiden convocation as part of the anniversary programme amongst others.

Adaramola said, “We have completed over 150 community projects and 70 are in various stages of completion. A swimming pool which was started in 1978 and had been handled by 16 different contractors under successive administrations, yet 20% completed, was picked up and completed in record time by this government.

Today, it has been declared as the most beautiful and second biggest Olympic-standard swimming pool in Nigeria after that of the National Stadium, Abuja.”

“The hopes of our people have been rekindled through the several selfless services of this administration, they are now critical stakeholders in the affairs of governing Ondo State, no wonder our projects are people-centred through the bottom-up approach policy of this administration. We are increasingly involving the people in our everyday decisions.

“We want to tell the people of Ondo State that what they are witnessing now as the delivery of true dividends of democracy within two years of its existence is nothing compared to the firmed-up plans of this administration to bring poverty, want and squalor to their knees in this state.

The Chairman said, “be assured that we have put our hands on the plough of moving the state to the next level with the full participation of the electorate and there will be no looking back until the set goals are achieved.”
