Abuja — Abuja magistrate court in zone 2, yesterday sentenced one Vincent John of Gana Street, Maitama Abuja, to three months imprisonment with an option of N3, 000. 00 as fine for stealing car battery.
Magistrate Hanwa Aliyu, after a summary trial, convicted the accused for offences of criminal trespass and theft, punishable under section 342 and 287 of the penal code law.
Vincent, 28, was arrested and handed over to the police for prosecution on the on January 9,h 2011, by men of the Incon Ellectrick Security Service, Abuja.
At the hearing of the matter, yesterday, the accused pleaded guilty to the two-count charge and appealed to the court for lenience.
Police prosecutor, Monday Akor, told the court that the accused entered the complainant’s room and stole the said battery.
“That you, Vincent John trespassed into the security room of the Incon Ellectrick Security Service at No. 26 Imani Estate, Maitama Abuja, and stole one car battery and during police investigation the said battery was recovered from you,” he said.
