Jossy Lad backs foreign coach for Falcons

By KATE OBODO

Former Super Falcons coach Joseph Ladipo, a.k.a Jossy Lad  has commended the  idea of hiring the service of  a foreign coach for the  Falcons but advised that it could be better if the Nigeria Football Association, NFA  focuses on developing  the team.

According to Jossy Lad, the services of a foreign coach in the Falcons will go a long way to improve the team especially internationally  as he  urged  the NFA to pay more attention on how to restructure the team rather than focussing only on the forthcoming World Cup holding in Germany in June.

“Honestly speaking, I do not see any thing bad in hiring a foreign coach. It will give our indigenous coaches knowledge on the job. But  my concern is on the  well- being of the team. Though they might have been excelling greatly  within Africa, the pertinent question is, how capable are they during international competitions?

“ When hiring a foreign expatriate, so many things are involved. The most important is to strengthen the team before any competition. This is what the NFA should have at the back of their mind,  not only for the competition.

“The reason for this idea is to make them surpass the record we had in 1999. I think if they do this and  improve the team, they will make an impact in the World Cup,” he said.

Meanwhile, head coach of the  Super Falcons Eucharia Uche last Wednesday  submitted her programme for the second phase of the 2011 FIFA Women’s Cup in Germany to the NFA but it is yet to be approved by the Glass house.
