Bayelsa conflict resolution committee boss laud INEC

By Samuel Oyadongha
The Chairman of the Peace and Conflict Resolution Committee in Bayelsa State, Chief James Jephath, has lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, over what he described as “the remarkable improvement” in the on-going voters registration exercise.

Chief Jephath noted that the recent criticisms that greeted the take-off of the exercise was caused by the fear that many eligible voters might be denied the opportunity of registering due to the noticeable technical hitches that characterised the commencement of the exercise.

He, however, noted that the number of persons so far registered across the country had shown that the commission has corrected itself and will succeed.

Jephath, whose voters registration lasted only a few minutes at the Ward 5, Unit 7 of the Igbebeleu Polo area of Nembe Bassambiri in Nembe Local Government Area, said in spite of the noticeable existence of the Nigerian factor in the registration process, the commission has done creditably.
