Agaga marks 63rd birthday, flags off senatorial campaign

AKURE — IMMEDIATE past governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Agagu, yesterday flagged off his senatorial campaign declaring that he possessed the experience, clout and commitment to give good representation to the people of the state in the Senate.

At the flag off which coincided with his 63rd birthday, Agagu declared that the “Senate is the highest decision making body in the land and to get the best for the people of the state from Abuja, there is need to present our best in terms of experience, clout and commitment.” Dr Agagu is contesting the Senatorial seat in Ondo South Senatorial district of the state.

The ceremony which was held at Okitipupa was attended by the chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, across the state and neighbouring South West states including the former Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, business mogul Jimoh Ibrahim, Special Adviser to President on Niger Delta, Kingsley Kuku, Chief Ademola Adegoroye, state Chairman of PDP, Dr Tayo Dairo amongst others.

All those who spoke at the declaration including Oyinlola, Kuku who represented the President Goodluck Jonathan described Agagu as tested, trusted and the best candidate for the position

They were unanimous in describing Dr Agagu as experienced, most qualified and tested.
The represebntative of the President Hon Kuku said that Agagu has the support of the President and pleaded for the people in the area to vote for him in appreciation of his achievement while in office.

Dr Agagu explained that he is a tested achiever who has done it before and is ready to do it again if given the opportunity to serve in the Senate.

He listed his agenda for the senate to include resuscitation of the OKLNG project, construction of Ugbo-Oghoye road, construction of Agadagba Obon- Arogbo bridge and the provision of 230 KVA Substation for the Southern Senatorial district.

Others include construction of Phase 11 Omotosho Power Plant 600MV, reconstruction of Shagamu- Benin Expressway, maintenance of Ore- Okitipupa and Ore Ondo roads with possible upgrade.

Dr Agagu added that other include establishment of a permanent site for the Naval Base at Adagbakuja, comprehensive water supply scheme for the coastal riverine areas, completion of abandoned Federal government rural electrification projects, and the promotion of the enactment of good laws for the peace and progress of the Country.
