UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office Minister, Jeremy Browne has condemned the violent attacks on New Year’s Eve on innocent Nigerian citizens in Abuja.

The Foreign Minister who expressed deepest shock on such incident which is a most unpleasant way of ushering in a new year, was disappointed at the bomb blast, following an earlier similar occurrences in Jos and Maiduguri during the Christmas period which claimed innocent lives and properties.

Mr. Browne calls for a quick action by the Nigeria government to put in place tight security so that calm be restored and maintained for the benefit of all Nigerians adding that Nigeria government must as a matter of urgency, do all they can so that those responsible for the unholy acts of violence be investigated and brought to book.

“I am shocked and saddened to learn of the bomb attack in Abuja on New Year’s Eve. I condemn this incident and the loss of innocent lives…” and hereby extend the UK’s condolences to the victims and their families.
