Talking security through Chase

By Japhet Alakam
Perhaps deriving from the fact that security which is the most important and all pervading issue in national life has not been given its due place by the Federal Government as the Police which is saddled with the responsibility of maintaining law and order have been having daunting challenges in doing that in decades; many individuals and organisations have come up with alternative suggestions in the last few years, each with its own way of contributing towards addressing the security challenges facing the nation.

Chase , an international quarterly crime oriented and general interest magazine published by Chase Communications Nigeria Limited, is certainly one of the segmented publications in the country today trying to make its voice heard on the subject of security challenges in the country.

Floated three years ago by a seasoned crime reporter, Princess Tonia Maijeh with the objective of addressing the vexed issue of security of lives and property in the nation, especially in this critical time when politically selfish individuals go to any length to create a climate of fear and insecurity.

The magazine analyses news of topical national issues as they relate to achievements in all spheres of human endeavour and their significance in national economic development.

The current edition , the sixth since its inception has already received the commendation of the number one Chief Security Officer in the country, President Goodluck Jonathan. The edition is rich with incisive and well researched stories about the security agencies and their onerous task of tackling the menace of robbers, activities of hoodlums, kidnappers , the incessant bomb blast and other violent crimes in the country.

The edition begins with a profile of The Man Jonathan, Odyssey of Nigeria’s Obama. It also highlights some major issues about Nigeria at 50 with its attendant problems of political and religious violence, corruption, kidnaping and lack of responsible leadership.

The magazine also features  personality interviews of some few privileged Nigerians who have excelled in their various fields of life especially men of God with special focus on His Eminence Anthony Cardinal Okogie, the Archbishop of Metropolitan Sea of Lagos who celebrated his 70th birthday and Very Reverend Father S.E.U. Osigweh . Issues relating to health, romance, relationships , human angle, family and other juicy stories that will make one’s day any time are also addressed.

With a very catchy photo cover, the magazine is highly educative and informative and is recommended to businessmen and women, politicians, professionals, advertisers and the general public; especially those who need a guide at this period when the security of the country is challenged so that they will know where to go, how to go about it and where not to go.
