ERSTWHILE General Manager, Branch Operations, of Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc, Mr. Sammy Ogbodu, has been named the new Chief Operating Officer, COO, of the organisation by the management.
With this new role, the COO will oversee the affairs of six of the Divisions within the underwriting firm.
These are Technical, Energy, Marketing and Relationship Management, Business Development, Corporate Services and Branch Operations Division.
In the same vein, some other structural and operational changes have been effected with a view to accelerating the next growth phase of the company.
Tosin Olaniran, Assistant General Manager and former Area Head, Ibadan office takes charge of the newly created Branch Operations Division with responsibility for the supervision of Area Branch offices of the entire organisation while the hitherto Area Head in Ikeja office, Samuel Oseni moves to the Ibadan Area Office.
Mr. Wole Ashaolu, Assistant General Manager/Area Head, Port Harcourt Office has been re-deployed to Lagos to see to the affairs of the Ikeja Area office while the Branch Manager in the Jos Branch office, Suleiman Bazza, moves to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, as the new Area Head.
The Head of Corporate Communications/Brand Management of Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc, Mr. Segun Bankole announcing to newsmen said the recent changes in the organisation is in pursuit of a more improved service delivery across all operations of the organisation.

Mr. Ogbodu is a graduate of Insurance from the University of Lagos. He joined the company as one of the pioneer management staff in 1995. He started his career in 1985 at Nigerian Life & Pensions Consultants before moving to Law Union & Rock Insurance Company Plc in 1989 where he rose to the position of Manager in charge of Special Risks and Client Services.
He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London. He also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration with specialisation in Marketing Management from the Lagos State University. Sammy Ogbodu is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School having completed the Advanced Management Programme.
