Former gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in the 2007 general elections, Chief Martin Agbaso, has conceded the party’s governorship slot to Chief Rochas Okorocha.

Agbaso expressed the gesture during an emergency meeting organized by the party at Rosy Arts Theatre, Owerri, which some party faithful described as a political breakthrough.

He said: “I am here today to put to rest speculations and insinuations trailing my political stand in Imo State and to announce that Owelle Rochas Okorocha is the sole candidate for the April 2011 governorship election in Imo State on the platform of APGA.”

He called for total support and sacrifice in the party’s bid to secure victory at the polls, stressing that what delayed Okorocha’s entry into APGA was the bid to ensure that due process was followed.

Speaking also, state APGA Chairman, Chief C.C. Nwaka, announced that the suspension recently slammed on Okorocha had been lifted, adding that a letter to that effect had been communicated to the new entrant.

Responding, Chief Okorocha said he would be in office for just one term as governor, pointing out that he would be in office to effect changes in the system.
