Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State has congratulated President of Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye, over last weekend’s electoral victory which returned him to office.

Mr.Adefaye was re-elected at the Guild’s convention which held at  Airport Hotel in Lagos last weekend.

Governor Obi said: “It is my pleasure to send you my sincere and warm wishes on the occasion of your re-election as the President of Nigerian Guild of Editors.

“On behalf of the Government and good people of Anambra State, accept my congratulations.

Being re-elected to a position is a measure of confidence reposed in the candidate by the electorate.

“By the same token, those who returned you as the president of the Guild for another term of two years are saying that you acquitted yourself well in the discharge of the office during your first term.

“I have no doubt in my mind,therefore, that you will deploy your wealth of experience as a seasoned journalist to consolidate on your earlier gains. As you preside over the affairs of the Guild, please be assured of my government’s commitment to the enthronement of a free press. Kindly accept assurances of my highest regards.”
