Delta: PDP cancels congresses in 12 LGs

ABUJA—THE national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday cancelled Ward ad-hoc congresses held in 12 local government areas of Delta State.

According to a statement by the National Organising Secretary of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, the action became imperative following reports of cases of irregularities that characterized the conduct of the congresses last week.

The affected local governments are Patani, Bomadi; Burutu; Warri South West; Warri North, Isoko South; Isoko North, Warri South; Aniocha South, Ika south, Ndokwa West and Ndokwa East.

According to Secondus, “following the confirmation of reports of irregularities in the conduct of the Ward Ad-Hoc delegates congresses in some LGAs in Delta State, the National Working Committee has cancelled the Ward Ad-Hoc Delegates’ elections in the underlisted LGAs of Delta State. Accordingly, repeat Ward congresses would be conducted in the LGAs tomorrow January 5, 2011.’’
