THREE persons were feared dead at the National and state Houses of Assembly primaries of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Wednesday, in Edo State, just as Senator Ehigie Uzamere and Deacon Domingo Obende, picked the senatorial tickets for Edo South and North districts, respectively.

However, the state chairman of the party, Mr Thomas Okosun, confirmed the death of one person and attributed the incident to the desperation of politicians, who wanted to pick the party’s tickets at all cost, adding that the details of reported fights in some areas still remained sketchy.

Tension, however, mounted in the state as the party members thronged the secretariat waiting for the official announcement of the results. Vanguard, learnt that two persons were killed in Udo, Ovia North East Local Government Area and a woman in Ward five, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area. The woman was identified as Mrs Kate Aliu.

An official car belonging to the Akoko Edo Local Government Area was also said to have been burnt by suspected thugs. It will be recalled that Governor Adams Oshiomhole had warned that any aspirant associated with thuggery would be disqualified. But the primaries were characterized with violence and thuggery in the three senatorial districts.

However, unofficial results indicated that the former President of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, Mr Peter Akpatason, clinched the House of Representatives ticket for Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency.

Secretary to the State Government, Mr Pally Iriase, also emerged as the candidate for Owan federal constituency.
