PROSPECTIVE home owners who desire coloured roofing but cannot afford aluminum roofing products now have cause to smile. This is because Messrs  Nigerite Limited, a leading building products manufacturing company in Nigeria has launched two new products to meet coloured roofing needs in Nigeria.

Known as Solo and Adexx, the new products are available in three standard colours of terracotta red, brown and yellow. While Adexx has lengths of 1.8m and 2.4m with 1.050m width, the Solo version of it has a length 1.8m and a width of 0.685m width.

Unveiling the new products at the weekend, the Managing Director of the company, Mr. Jean-Luc Viatour said the products were being launched in pursuit of his company’s vision of transforming Nigeria’s real estate landscape through exceptional product offerings and excellent customer service delivery and as part of the company’s products diversification strategy to meet the changing tastes of its customers.

Mr. Viatour said both product brands are made from Portland cement, poly vinyl fibre and red, brown or yellow oxide.

The unique characteristic of the brands, according to him,  is the fact that the colours are pre-mixed in the mass as against surface coating associated with most roofing products available in Nigerian market. He added that the brands are being offered to fulfill the yearnings of the market segment that desire coloured roofing sheets with unique benefits associated with cement based roofing products.

According to him, Solo and Adexx corrugated sheets provide increased comfort resulting from good insulation against heat, electricity bills and significant reduction in rain noise, in comparison with alternative roofing materials, adding that in terms of security, when properly installed, the sheets will provide good protection against wind and rain ingress.

Mr. Viatour who said Nigerite offers free training and technical advice on the application of all its products, noted that the good weathering properties of Portland-based products and the low maintenance costs lead to reduced expenditure on roofing/cladding materials in the longer term when compared with alternative products. He said both brands have the potential of being used, not only for roofing but also cladding.

Explaining more on the brands, the director of marketing, Arc, Toyin Gbede said the products were introduced by Nigerite to satisfy low income segment of the Nigerian economy in terms of costs, pointing out that corrugated iron sheets lose value fast, arguing that it is better to spend a little more in purchasing products are durable. Lamenting the low quality aluminum products being offered Nigerians at exorbitant costs all in the name of aluminum, Arc. Gbede said the new products are not compromised in terms of quality.

The director of marketing who said liberalisation of building products in Nigeria is not healthy to local manufacturers, adding that this is because local products cannot compete with foreign products. He stated that the federal government needs to do something to encourage local manufacturers of building products in Nigeria.

Chief Toyin Lawal, Deputy President, Woodcraft and Furniture Association of Nigeria, Ogun State chapter, Chief Yahaya Atanda representing National President, Carpenters Association of Nigeria and Mr. Ben Sholabim representing Professional Carpenters and Furniture Makers Association, Lagos State who were at the official unveiling of the new brands said it was due to their recommendation to Nigerite as specifier of Nigerite products to end users and getting field back from the users that led to the introduction of the new brands by Nigerite.
