National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Umeh, has congratulated Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State on his appointment as vice chairman of Governors’ Forum.
The party also advised the governor to see the appointment as another opportunity to project APGA’s government by his commitment and devotion to duty.
Umeh, who spoke with newsmen in Awka, said Obi’s unanimous appointment was a demonstration of the trust and confidence his colleagues had in him and promised that APGA would continue to offer to the nation quality leaders to be proud of at all times.
Praying for Obi’s success in his present assignment, Umeh said APGA would continue to give Obi full support, provided he did not derail from the party’s agenda which, according to him, is to entrench quality leadership in the country.
According to him, APGA is happy that the lone governor it produced was found worthy of the appointment and confidence of his colleagues.
Governor Obi was appointed vice chairman of the Forum during the governors’ meeting held at Kwara State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja on Monday.
The appointment of the vice chairman followed the acceptance of the report of Governor Babatunde Fashola’s committee on the Forum’s leadership, which was presented by a member of the committee and Governor of Niger State, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu.
The report stated that as part of efforts to move the Forum forward, there shall be offices of chairman and vice chairman and that the tenure of chairman shall be for a period of two years.
