Enugu State House of Assembly passed a total of 28 bills and 10 resolutions in 2010. It also passed 24 motions in the same period, according to the official gazette of the Assembly.

However, only eight bills were assented to by the executive, while five were still outstanding. Jonas Ugwuanyi, Public Relations Officer of the Assembly told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, on Wednesday that the third session of the Assembly ended on June 3.

“During the period, the lawmakers sat  53 times, received 13 bills, out of which seven were passed while others were at their second reading stages’’, Ugwuanyi said.

He said that in 2009, seven bills were assented to, two motions passed, nine resolutions adopted and two valedictory sessions were held by the lawmakers.

Ugwuanyi said that the lawmakers would resume plenary sessions on January 20 after the Chrismas recess.
