A bloody political clash  was averted in Aba on Thursday when some supporters of Governor Theodore Orji of Abia state allegedly invaded the venue of a campaign rally organized by Abia South Senatorial zone for his former deputy now a governorship aspirant on the platform of Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA, Mr Chris Akomas, chanting the praise of the governor, and attempted to disrupt the rally.

The invaders, who carried campaign posters of the governor stormed the rally arena shortly after the arrival of Akomas and his team.

But Akomas and his team exhibited maturity and prevailed on his supporters who were ready to engage the invading group, to remain calm, until policemen arrived to help maintain peace before the group left the venue.

However, addressing the rally, Akomas commended his supporters for the mature way they handled the situation but regretted that Government House, Umuahia is “exhibiting acts of intolerance and ignorance”.

According to him, “we are peace_loving people, we don’t want to make trouble so those who looking for trouble will carry it on their head”.
