Amb Baba endorses Yakowa

By Chris Ochayi
ABUJA—Ahead of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship primaries, former Nigerian Ambassador to Senegal and North Korea, Ambassador Sule Baba, has endorsed the candidature of incumbent Kaduna State governor, Mr. Patrick Yakowa, describing him as the best material for the state in next year’s election

Ambassador Buba, who made the remarks during an interactive session with journalists, appealed to the generality of the people of the state, particularly PDP delegates in the state, to support Governor Yakowa to enable him continue with the programme of the transformation of the state for the benefit of the people.

Lists Yakowa’s qualities

Describing Yakowa as very straightforward, hardworking, honest and a detribalised person who could be trusted with power, Baba said the governor would also do justice to all concerned without fear or favour.

He said: “Governor Yakowa is a very good material for the state for so many reasons. One, he is very straightforward, honest, very hard working, a man of high integrity, a seasoned administrator, a good manager of human and material resources.”

Yakowa, according to him, “is one of the very few Nigerians who have seen it all because this is a man who had been a civil servant, chairman of a local government council and was a permanent secretary at both state and federal levels. He was a commissioner, he was a minister, and was an administrator of a political party.”

“He was Secretary to the State Government, he was deputy governor twice under two different administrations and now a governor. So how on earth can you jettison this kind of material and go for who?

“If this man is not given the chance then, who will be given, with this antecedent? These are my reasons.
“From the time he took over, we have seen this experience he has gathered over the years coming into play, because he has continued from where his predecessor has stopped.

“People believe now that what they are after is justice whoever will rule them and be fair to them they will vote for him.

“My message to delegates in all strata of the election is they should go for the best, go for the man who will do justice to them, the man who will develop society, the man who will manage our resources and the man who has honour and integrity.

“These should be the qualities our delegates should focus on and vote for. And after the primaries the electorates should vote for this same qualities.

He warned the people to avoid voting for those he called “desperate politicians”, who have nothing to offer to the people of the State apart from what they can grab.

While further justifying his description of Governor Yakowa as the best man for the job, the former Ambassador said, “out of all the aspirants jostling for the governorship position, nobody has the interest of the people at heart like Yakowa and wants to bring peace in this state like Yakowa.

Three nobody that tolerates the two religions from the unset like Yakowa, and Yakowa is the only governor who allowed the use of local government funds by the local government. These are four cardinal principles that an ordinary person in the state is talking about”.
