THE Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Abia State, held its State Congress in Umuahia last weekend. The following officers were elected to pilot the affairs of the party in the state for the elections of next year. They are state chairman, Obi Aham, state secretary, Gospel Nwamkpa, Josephine Chukwu as Woman Leader and Vincent K. Oleh as Publicity Secretary.
The well attended Congress was witnessed by party representatives across the state, representatives of the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party, members of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, State Security Services, SSS, and the Police
In a statement at the end of the Congress, gubernatorial aspirant of the party in the state, Lagos-based legal practitioner, Mr. Chinwengozi Obike said he was satisfied with the conduct of the congress and the decorum exhibited by party members.
He said the smooth conduct of the congress was an indication of the determination of the party in the state to win the elections next year.
“This is a disciplined party that has consistently shown leadership and love for the people across the country”, Obike said, adding, “we have no doubt that Abians would embrace ACN, and reject inept and visionless leadership that had brought the state’s economy to its knees necessitating the intervention of the military in the affairs of a once peaceful state”.
On his part, state chairman, Aham, said he was committed to delivering the state to the party. “My executive will go all out to ensure that our great party, the ACN, wins the state and install the government here so that our people could at least enjoy some dividends of democracy in their lifetime”, he stressed.
