ADO-EKITI—No fewer than six students of the newly established University of Science and Technology, USTI, Ifaki Ekiti, are on their way out of the institution for deliberately breaking the rules and regulations guiding the administration of the university.

One of the students who was said to have drunk himself to stupor attempted to disrupt a programme organised by the institution, while others were said to have gone on their own to rent apartments in the town and are living as couples despite the fact that the university runs a full residential programme that could accommodate all the students.

Speaking during a Parents’ Forum organised by the institution, weekend, the Vice-Chancellor of the 10 months-old university, Prof Oye Bandele, said such students were not expected to be in the university.

The VC who vowed that the university would have a zero tolerance to  any act of social and criminal misconducts such as cultism, hooliganism, examination mal-practices, raping and other related offences.

Bandele told the parents that the mission of the institution was to produce graduates ‘’who are scientifically sound, entrepreneurial skilled, socially stable, academically self confident, morally sharp, ethically sane and adequately prepared for global competitiveness.”

The USTI boss who commended the new governor  and the Visitor to the University, Dr Kayode Fayemi for promising to continue with all the good programmes embarked upon by the ousted governor, Engr Segun Oni

The USTI VC who noted  that the institution would not beam its search-lights on discipline to the students alone, but on the staff and lecturers of the university, urged “the students not to hesitate to report any staff or lecturer who may like to indulge in  any immoral  or fraudulent acts to the university management.”

The Vice Chancellor informed the parents that the university had finalised arrangements to collaborate  with  some foreign  and local universities such as Kyungnam University, South Korea, KwazuluNatal University, South Africa and the Federal University of Technology Akure

He  used the forum to announce the  the intention of the management to embarked on the construction work on the permanent site of the university, saying the management was only waiting for the approval  of the  University Council
