…Cuts Short Lagos Trip, ….Meets Labour
By Daniel Idonor
ABUJA–IN a last minute move to avert an imminent strike action by organised labour bill for Wednesday, President Goodluck Jonathan Tuesday afternoon cut short his trip to Lagos and return to Abuja to meet with labour leadership.
Jonathan is said to lead a high powered government delegation to the emergency talks with representatives of Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, in Abuja this evening.
The move is hinged on his desire to avert the labour strike planned for Wednesday which labour said has become inevitable, due to government’s inability to meet labour demands.
Dr. Jonathan who has been in Lagos since last Saturday, hurriedly cut short his stay in Lagos in order to resolve the lingering issues.

In a press release issued by Special Adviser to the President, Media and Publicity, Mr Ima Niboro, said the President has assured of government’s interest in its commitment towards achieving a realistic salary and wages for the Nigerian workers as evidenced in the salaries increases of Federal Government employees last month.
